What’s wrong with this picture? Is it true that Israelites are not living good lives as God intended?
We all aspire to live good lives according to God’s Will, under the True Son of God of Israel: Christ. His moral code for righteous living tells us to do what is virtuous and to shun what is vice, evil, and sinful. The Founders recognized that only a “moral and religious people” would do that and thereby be free to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also recognized that their self-government was “suitable for no other” because all others lacked the God-mandated self-restraint from vice and sin.
But these Israelites are not living the good lives God intended for them when they trust in false idols to ward off evil. Haven’t they learned their Scripture?
