A shaykh said Islam will “enter every single household in America.”
And Christians are offended.
Why are we offended?
Have we read our own Book?
Yes, the shaykh said something bold. But Christians are in the comments saying:
“Islam is taking over the West and they’re threatening us.”
Meanwhile our own scriptures say:
“Every nation. Every tongue will confess. Every knee will bow and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
That’s one of the most world-conquering statements ever spoken!
And it offends everyone who isn’t Christian! So why do Muslims get to be bold about their faith, while Christians act like we’re supposed to whisper ours?
If your faith collapses because a shaykh posted a hype video,
you don’t have the kind of faith we need.
The Gospel has been offending nations for 2,000 years. Welcome to the club.
That’s what the world sees when it looks at Christianity.
Honestly, I’m glad the shaykh said it, because it instantly exposes a lukewarm church.
It reveals who is anchored in Christ, and who can meet conviction with conviction, radical Islam with radical love.

I was going to remark that the word ‘shaykh’ was a misspelling of the word ‘sheik’, as well as a mispronunciation of it which would sound like ‘sheek’ with a long ‘e’. A consult with my Webster’s New World dictionary did present it that way but it also said that the Brit pronunciation was often like ‘shake’ and the Arabic pronunciation was ‘shaekh’.
I’ve often more recently heard it pronounced with a short ‘e’ as in ‘shek’. So the ‘shaykh’ rendering probably comes from the Brit ‘shake’ or Arabic ‘shaekh’.
I’d say it’s not exactly a ‘lukewarm’ church but rather that the Christians haven’t yet rallied to defend it from the recent attacks against it. We’ll not allow either Sharia law or a hostile Islam to invade our American Way of Life which is New testament-based.
I did not change the spelling of shaykh because the author of that article was a dyed-in-the-wool Muslim until he came to Christ. So I thought maybe his spelling represents a dialect similar to our own dialects, ie ya’ll or on the East coast, you’s.
