Prayer for Deliverance From Relativism and Other Evils

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue. Proverbs 6: 16-19

Contemporary America is both the world’s most religious nation and the primary source of relativism in the world. Reports show that Catholics are as relativistic, both in behavior and in belief, as Protestants. Sixty-two percent of Evangelicals say they disbelieve in any absolute or unchanging truths, and American Jews are significantly more relativistic and more secular than Gentiles. Relativism, rebellion against authority, heresies such as anti-creation evolution, and various occultisms such as the Enneagram and mind-emptying meditation, infect our churches, making them spiritually weak and devilishly worldly.

“A lying tongue hates its victims, and a flattering mouth works ruin.” Proverbs 26:28

Relativism is deeply rooted in the base desire of the fallen human mind to be free from all authority and to enjoy the exaltation of self and of doing what self wants. This is where relativism comes from. This is why we have a ‘selfie’ culture.

When relativism takes hold of church and society, everyone begins to do what is right in his or her own eyes without any regard for submission to truth and authority. In this foul atmosphere, rebellion, lawlessness, turmoil, distrust, perversion, and other evils prevail, causing both church and society to break down since people who can no longer distinguish between truth and lies are a people so skeptical of everything they can no longer believe anything:.

“…constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore. A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong. And such a people, deprived of the power to think and judge, is, without knowing and willing it, completely subjected to the rule of lies. With such a people, you can do whatever you want.” (German historian and philosopher Hannah Arendt, 1906-1975)

A vast dark wing of evil overshadows and penetrates the West and the United States. In its penetrating darkness, confusion reigns, and we cannot make sense of the relativism and pathological lying, rebellion against authority, the seething hatred of Jesus Christ, the killing of babies, the treachery, violence, perversity, blasphemy, the subversion and perversion of youth, the power grabbing, and other evils so obviously endemic here in America and throughout the West unless we return to the Biblical view of man:

“….the basic insights of the Christian faith provide the best insight we have into the nature of man and of the crisis we find ourselves in…”  (John Hallowell, cited in The Conservative Intellectual Movement, George Nash, p. 53)

No concept gives “deeper insight into the enigma that is man” than original sin. Evil is not just a “bad dream,” warned Richard Weaver, author of “Ideas Have Consequences.” Evil is not “an accident of history,” or the “creation of a few antisocial men.” It is a “subtle, protean force,” and original sin is a “parabolical expression” of this “immemorial tendency of man to do the wrong thing when he knows the right thing.” (Nash)

Let us pray:

O Lord, please have mercy on Your children for we are sinners conceived in sin. In Your infinite grace and mercy we ask that You forgive Your children for their sins and also the people of this land, for they have forgotten the eternal way and run after the flesh and the world, and now our land is drowning in lies and many other evils. So today, this very moment, we Your children humble ourselves and pray and seek You, for Your Word promises that if we, the blood bought who are called by your name, will humble ourselves, and pray, and seek your face, and repent of our sins then we will hear from heaven, and you will forgive our sin and will heal our land.  Please merciful Father, grant us your wisdom , spiritual discernment, and the power of your Spirit to see through the darkness and confusion to the pure light of the dawning day. Deliver your imprisoned and persecuted saints. Cleanse the worldliness from our hearts and impart a desire to walk faithfully and righteously in your ways.

“Remove far from the people of this land all falsehood and lying; give them neither poverty nor riches; feed them with the food that is needful for them.” Proverbs 30:8

We beseech You O Lord, please have mercy and send the Holy Spirit upon the sinful people of this land to convict them of their sins that they might confess and repent of their evil ways. In Your mercy and grace bring them back into Your Light. Help them to live lives filled by the power of your Spirit. We pray that you would bring about an awakening of Your presence in Your children and in the people of this land as never seen before. May your Holy Name be proclaimed in all the earth and may every evil plan of the unrepentant wicked people and the evil one they obey be torn down and cast into the pit. In the Triumphant Name of the Crucified Risen Christ we pray. Amen.
