The Satanic Temple plans to open an abortion center in Maine on June 14, 2025, named “The President’s Yuge Most Beautiful Tremendous Satanic Abortion Clinic” in a mocking nod to President Donald Trump’s birthday.
“We hope he receives this clinic’s distinguished title as the magnificent, regal birthday present it is intended to be,” said Satanic Temple executive director Erin Helian in a press release.
The facility, part of the temple’s TST Health network, will sell dangerous abortion-inducing drugs by mail and instruct women to perform a “Satanic Abortion Ritual” involving chants that pro-life advocates denounce as evil and morally repugnant.
The abortion biz, announced on June 6, 2025, will offer free medical consultations and prescriptions for mifepristone and misoprostol, costing patients approximately $91, according its website.
The ritual requires women to recite tenets emphasizing bodily autonomy and scientific reasoning, culminating in a personal affirmation: “By my body, my blood; by my will, it is done.”
The Satanic Temple, a nontheistic organization based in Salem, Massachusetts, claims its ritual is a protected religious practice under the First Amendment and state Religious Freedom Restoration Acts. Since the 2022 Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade, the temple has opened similar clinics in New Mexico and Virginia, named to taunt Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and pro-life principles. In Maine, where abortion is legal throughout pregnancy, the abortion center aims to expand access to abortions with mifepristone up to 11 weeks gestation.
Pro-life advocates argue the temple’s provocative branding and ritualistic approach trivialize the gravity of abortion. The temple’s Maine clinic has drawn ire for its timing and name, with posts on X from users labeling it a “satanic” affront to Maine’s values.
The temple has not disclosed its Maine staff but partners with Honey Bee Health for delivery of the dangerous abortion pills.
