With the declaration of the death of the Christian God by Nietzsche and others of his mindset, God’s Commands, Immutable Truth, and moral law were jettisoned. Sin was thrown out along with free will, making man no longer fallen and sinful but born good. In this way of thinking, man only does bad things because nurture (bad parents) or nature cause him to do bad things. In this way of thinking a mystical force at work in nature (or in guns) or nurture causes man to do something bad. Man is not to blame because he has no free will so the external force or parents are to blame.
Now either Michael Byrd freely chose to shoot Ashli Babbitt the same as he freely chose to run a taxpayer funded daycare in his home allowing him to steal great quantities of tax payer money or he is a good man helplessly caused by nature or nurture to murder Ashli and run a taxpayer funded scam. Poor guy couldn’t help himself so don’t blame him.
Furthermore, if Michael Byrd was helplessly caused to do bad things then logically, so are all of the thieves who have been stealing upwards of a trillion dollars (or more) of tax payer money as well as Obama and his supporters who overthrew our government. Then there’s Renee Good. Was she helplessly caused to ram an Ice agent?
Christianity teaches that man is fallen, therefore the possibility of evil is within the heart of each and every human. In this way of thinking, Michael Byrd is guilty on both counts because humans have free wills and can therefore choose to lie, steal, and murder or choose not to lie, steal, and murder.
If we accept the first proposition then we should not expect justice because Michael Byrd is a good man caused by nature or nurture to murder Ashli, lie about it, and to enrich himself by running a taxpayer funded scam out of his home.
If the self-refuting good but helplessly caused excuse sounds nonsensical that is because it is a lie.
If we accept the second proposition, we demand justice because God commanded that man not murder other men or steal what is not his plus the legal system of our Christian founded nation is grounded in the second proposition, not the first.
