I’d say Pastor MacArthur’s diagnosis isn’t quite correct. I’d say that those attending church are demonstrating their faith by simply being there among other Christians and really are born again.
Sadly, they may still be just new-born babes still eating pablum who haven’t yet to grown up to eat the adult fruits of the Holy Spirit. They’re still saved but are still far from being perfect. I’d say all of us are far from being perfect, but we’re still worshippers.
To put it another way, they’re in fertile soil but that soil needs the water, the grace, for the plants to grow bigger. Pastor MacArthur is talking about only the full grown plants being saved, I’d say.
