Revoice Same-Sex Theology Influenced By Tim Keller’s Corrosive Theology

“The end of Revoice theology is the belief that what is wrong with same-sex attraction is not that it is sinful, but that others are sinfully opposed to it. If Adam experienced the desire to sin prior to the Fall, and Christ experienced the desire to sin after it, we must not expect anyone else to be capable of mortifying the desire to sin, whether in this life or the life to come. “ (Revisiting Revoice: Same-Sex Attraction in Sanctification, Chris Bolt, Founders Ministries)

Among the stable of theological movers and shakers pushing bad doctrine such as Darwinism, ideological Social Justice, Revoice and LBGTQ inclusion theology is one of the most widely respected and celebrated ministers in the Reformed Presbyterian church. That minister is Tim Keller.

Keller’s bad doctrine spans Hell, church order, homosexuality, Social Justice (an ideological construct deriving from Marxist Communism) and Creation. Keller is an evolutionary theist who embraces the Big Bang and Darwin’s theory, which puts him in the company of atheists, Karl Marx, and other God-haters: “Darwinism came at the desired time; Darwin’s theory that man is the descendant of a lower animal destroyed the entire foundation of Christian dogma.” (Anton Pannekoek, “Marxism and Darwinism,” translated by Nathan Weiser)

Non-biblical Social Justice figures prominently on the homepage of Keller’s flagship mega-church Redeemer Presbyterian Church. Redeemer’s home page advertises Keller’s ambitious City Church project as a family of churches and ministries that: “… exist to help build a great city for all people through a movement of the gospel that brings personal conversion, community formation, social justice, and cultural renewal to New York City and, through it, the world.”

Underlying Social Justice is the idea of man remaking creation. Creation is bad; it is fallen. In this classic Gnostic pagan way of thinking, man is not fallen and sinful but rather Jehovah is. So taking the lead in cultural renewal via Social Justice is San Francisco City church inspired by Tim Keller:
“The senior pastor and elders of San Francisco’s evangelical City Church will no longer require members to abstain from homosexual practice, so long as the homosexual activity occurs in the context of marriage. According to a letter written by senior pastor Fred Harrell on behalf of the Board of Elders, “We will no longer discriminate based on sexual orientation and demand lifelong celibacy as a precondition for joining. For all members, regardless of sexual orientation, we will continue to expect chastity in singleness until marriage.” (Why San Francisco’s City Church is Wrong About Sex, Robert Gagnon, First Things, 3/17/15)

In this light it is not surprising that over on Warhorn Media, Tim Bayly exposes Tim Keller as a turncoat whose corrosive influence is everywhere:
“For twenty years Tim Keller’s influence on pastors spread like wildfire across the church. Initially, back in the early nineties, I trusted Keller…But then, as the early nineties moved into the mid-nineties, bad reports about Keller’s doctrine and practice continued from people I trusted who attended Redeemer so that, in time, we stopped recommending Redeemer to those who moved to New York City for a job or grad school….Now, Tim Keller’s influence is obvious everywhere. He won.

The PCA is fine with Scott Saul’s women officers…. The PCA’s seminary is whole hog behind the “gay spiritual friendship” project, lending its best and brightest to the steamy Revoice Conference for “LGBTQ sexual minorities” being sourced by Covenant Theological Seminary’s Vice President and grads which is due to be held in a PCA church in St. Louis next week…The off-pitch notes Tim Keller spent his ministry blowing from New York City were bad in many areas, including the Biblical doctrines of Creation, Hell, Adam’s federal headship, church order and polity, homosexuality, etc., but the worst thing Tim Keller accomplished was changing the preaching of the Reformed church and its pastors. It is awful what he has done, yet no one recognizes or grieves over it.” (Tim Keller: The Perfect Preacher For Our Time, Warhorn Media)

On Warhorn Media’s “About’ Page” we learn what Bayly means when he says “our time:” “We live in a crazy time. Up is down, down is out, left is right, right is wrong, and wrong is celebrated.”And in our crazy, upside-down time turncoat ministers are celebrated by the undiscerning as true men of the Lord.
Pray for this minister but do not follow him.
