The most famous book that hardly anyone has actually read is Salman Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses.” Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini issued a death warrant on him for it. Why? For his revealing Islam’s most scandalous secret. Here’s the story.

Khomeini’s death fatwa was read on Radio Tehran on February 14, 1989: ”In the name of God, I am informing all brave Moslems of the world that the author of The Satanic Verses, a text written, edited, and published against Islam, the Prophet of Islam, and the Qur’an, along with all the editors and publishers aware of its contents, are condemned to death. I call on all valiant Moslems wherever they may be in the world to kill them without delay, so that no one will dare insult the sacred beliefs of Moslems henceforth.”

The latest attempt on Rushdie’s life was by Hezbollah fanatic Hadi Matar, who stabbed him ten times on August 12, 2022 in Chautauqua, New York. He barely survived. Iran’s mullah government has never withdrawn the fatwa and is still in effect today. What makes radical Islamofascists so murderously terrified here?

Consider that only scholars on the history of Islam and radical Islamic fanatics know what these “Satanic verses” are. Rushdie briefly references them in a dream by one of his characters. Khomeini and his fatwa-followers, however, are “inerrantists,” believing every word in the Koran is the infallible or inerrant Word of God with no possible mistranslation or misunderstanding. With one exception. A literally satanic exception.

Before Islam, Arabs from northern Mesopotamia (Iraq) to the entire Middle East and the Arabian peninsula were polytheistic. One of their main gods, derived from El of the Canaanites, was Al-Ilha or Allah. Another in the pantheon was the goddess of the Moon Al-Lat, Al-Ilha/Allah’s consort or his daughter, and two other daughters of Al-Ilha/Allah, goddess of the morning and evening stars Al-Uzza and goddess of fate/destiny Manat.

The photo you see is of the three of them, Al-Lat in the center, on display at the Iraq Museum in Baghdad. All were worshipped by the polytheistic Arabs of Mecca as the Daughters of Allah when Mohammed began preaching to them.

So — the saga of the Satanic Verses starts with the earliest accounts of Mohammed’s life written by accepted Islamic scholars such as Ibn Ishaq (died 767 AD) and al-Tabari (d. 923). Ishaq and Tabari, whose accounts form the official biography of Mohammed, tell a story regarding a chapter or sura in the Koran known as An-Najm, The Star, numbered 53. In verses 19-20 of Sura 53, Allah via Gabriel says to Mohammed:

“Have you thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza and Manat the third, the other?”

Yep, the “Daughters of Allah,” goddesses worshipped for many centuries by the Arabs to whom Mohammed was preaching, trying to convert them to his new religion.

Ishaq and Tabari then say the next verses, 21-22, were:

“These are the exalted females whose intercession is to be hoped for.”

Thus, Allah acknowledges that he has three daughters who are gods like him. But then! Ibn Ishaq and al Tabari (and other recognized early biographers, Ibn S’ad, d. 845, and al-Wakidi, d. 823) then explain Mohammed has made a mistake!

Gabriel tells him that he was listening to Satan instead of him, Gabriel, and thus Allah! Mohammed should have known for there is only One God and has no daughter gods.

Oops. Sorry about that, Gabe.

Polytheism is The Big Islamic No-No. Gabriel gets upset at Mohammed for being tricked by Satan. Mohammed has to ask his scribes (as he was illiterate and couldn’t write) to cross out these “Satanic Verses” of Sura 53:21-22 and replace them with:

“Are men’s children to be boys and Allah’s to be girls? That is an unfair division!”

Men only want sons, you see, so it is an insult to Allah to claim he has daughters. How ridiculous. So there can only be One God. The final proof of Allah’s solitary existence is that’s he’s sexist. How satanic.

The alteration of Sura 53:21-22 is the great Skeleton in Islam’s Closet. Islamofascist Moslems are terrified of it being exposed.

Look at the icons of Al-Lat, Manat, and Al-Uzza again. For many centuries, Arabs revered them as Allah’s daughters, which Mohammed respected. Then all of a sudden, the voice in his head says, “No, that wasn’t me, Gabriel – it was Satan!”

But how could he tell the difference – the voices sounded exactly the same. Meaning he could never tell the difference between Gabriel’s voice in his head and Satan’s voice in his head.

It puts the entire Koran in doubt. For if Mohammed was fooled once by Shaytan (Satan), maybe he was fooled in other Koranic verses, and then maybe the whole Koranic enterprise starts to crumble.

But perhaps this is an opportunity. The great problem for any moderate Moslem is that the Koran is larded with verses supporting Islamofascism, in which Allah advocates slavery, thievery, beheading unbelievers and cutting their fingers off, killing apostates, on and on.

This means we can divide the Koran into two. Published in the original classical Arabic and various language translations, the first section would be the “Koran of Allah” containing all the non-offensive verses compatible with civilization. The second section would be the “Koran of Shaytan,” with all the Islamofascist verses compiled together and condemned as the words of the devil and not of god. Mohammed was fooled more than he knew, you see, there’s lots more Satanic Verses, so neither he nor Allah can be accused of slavery and butchery. This gives moderate Moslems an out, a way to keep their religion without having to accept all the 7th century primitivism. This could help destabilize the frenzy of Islamofascism, and rid the world of its bullying and terror. Then the world’s Non-Islamofascist Moslems could focus again on having a decent life for their families and children, and get along with the rest of the world. It’s worth a try.
